After a successful referendum which took place on 29 November 2009, work on the significant CEVA rail project will start in the autumn, pending a positive decision by the Federal Administrative Court. The developers are SBB and the Canton of Geneva.
Construction work at the Nant de Drance pump-storage plant in the Canton of Valais is making good progress. Excavation of the access tunnels has commenced and will be the main activity this year.
In the course of the cross-city link line project, Zurich’s main station is undergoing massive changes. The Swiss company, Marti, has been tasked with the construction of the shell of the underground through station, where work is moving steadily forward.
On December 4, the miners honoured for Saint Barbara and asked for protection. On the tunnel sites at Bure (JU), Moutier/Graitery (BE), Buchrain (LU), Nant de Drance (VS), Vedeggio-Cassarate (TI), Bibra (G) and Óshlíð (IS) there was a festive celebration.
November 28th, 2009 was a great day for the miners in Iceland: the last blast led to strike-through of the Óshlíð Tunnel.
The contracts for the first PPP Project in Switzerland have been signed. The canton Bern, Marti Generalunternehmung AG and also BAM Deutschland AG have come to an agreement and have signed the papers.
At the Bôrik Tunnel in Slovakia, the breakthrough has happened in the truest sense of the word: on November 25th 2009 in the presence of the Slovak Prime Minister, the section of the motorway D1 Mengusovce-Jánovce was punctually opened up to the traffic.
Marti Generalunternehmung AG in cooperation with BAM Deutschland AG has been awarded the contract for the 1st PPP Project in Switzerland. The Zeughaus complex in Burgdorf, Canton Bern is being completely redeveloped.
Marti Generalunternehmung AG is being commissioned as the general contractor by the city of Burgdorf to build the „Regional Ice Sports Centre Emme“. The first matches will be played in the 2010/2011 season. The construction sum is approx. CHF 20 million.
Marti is building Zurich’s Prime Tower. At 126 m high, it is the tallest building in Switzerland with 36 floors.
