The Kölliken Hazardous Waste Site was founded in the 1970’s. During its usage between 1978 and 1985 up to 250.000 m3 of hazardous waste have been discarded on the site. The Site has been closed since 1985. The ‘Sondermülldeponie Kölliken’ Consortium have developed an ‘Environmental Rehabilitation’ concept for the Site, which would realise the Site Redevelopment in three phases. Following initial stabilisation of current state and the building of safeguards, the former landfill would then be sanified.

The highway section Mengusovce - Jánovce (nearby the city of Poprad) is part of the Slovak highway D1 which will run from Bratislava to Kosice. The 1000 m long Tunnel Bôrik is the most important construction site of this section. It is designed as a two tube structure, providing two lanes each tube. Both tubes are being connected with three crossways which will serve as emergency galleries.
